Nominate Someone You Know for the “PFund Power of One” Award

Online Nomination Form

Philanthrofund annually recognizes individuals who are strongly involved in promoting and serving the GLBT community with its “PFund Power of One Award”. The PFund Power of One Award is designed to recognize individuals who work to improve the quality of life for the GLBT community through efforts such as volunteering, activism and/or leadership. Past award recipients have generally had a strong knowledge of the GLBT community and a commitment to serving the community as effective leaders and/or dedicated volunteers.

Application Deadline: December 15th

Nomination format: To nominate a worthy individual, simply complete the nomination form at the top of this page, telling why you believe your nominee should receive the PFund Power of One award. Your statement should particularly stress the individual’s involvement in his or her community, noting volunteer efforts, GLBT leadership accomplishments and past involvement in GLBT-related issues.

In short, tell us what your nominee has done to help fulfill Philanthrofund’s vision of building communities in Minnesota and the Upper Midwest where GLBT people are celebrated and live free from discrimination, violence, invisibility and isolation.

Criteria for nominees/recipients:

  • The award recognizes someone who has made a significant contribution that reflects the mission and vision of PFund.
  • Nominees have both depth and breadth of service to the GLBT community.
  • Nominees are community leaders or activists.
  • Community service may include service to PFund, but should not be limited to this type of service.
  • The PFund Power of One Award is not limited to someone with a “lifetime” of contributions; a significant one-time benefit may also be recognized.
  • Current board and staff members of PFund are not eligible for nomination.  Partners and family members of current board and staff are eligible.

Award: One winner is chosen each year to receive the PFund Power of One Award. The winner will be honored at PFund’s annual grantee event and receive $1,000 to be awarded to a non-profit organization of the recipient’s choice:

1) The organization(s) must be an incorporated non-profit charitable organization whose mission and activities do not conflict with PFund Foundation’s mission.
2) The organization cannot be one whose primary purpose is to meet the needs of a specific individual or family, even if the funds flow through a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
